Overview The Network Systems Engineer provides Tier IV and production engineering support to the Fleet and NIWC Enterprise customers located around the world in support of ONE-Net networks and applications as requested by the government. The engineer provides QA on tickets and produces reports from Remedy for NEN leadership. May provide support for installations, upgrades, remote and on-site support and troubleshooting for network/server architectures and devices including servers, PCs, server backups, virtualized configurations, and SAN/NAS storage. May utilize Microsoft Configuration Manager 20xx to support lab and site configurations. Frequently develops, reviews, or updates documentation. Travel to NEN sites overseas or CONUS may be required (10%). Responsibilities Provide local and remote Tier IV technical support to both Fleet and NIWC Enterprise customers in support of ONE-NET networks and applications as requested by the government. Provide engineering services to support the ONE-NET Request For Change (RFC) process (in support of speed to capability for Navy networks). Provide on-site ashore engineering subject matter expertise in support of ONE-NET services at overseas locations and at CONUS NIWC activities. Provide engineering technical services to assist with system integration and site activation planning to include the formulation of tracking of delivery plans for equipment sub-systems to support ONE-NET requirements and its integration into Navy Next Generation Enterprise Networks (NGEN). Assist the customer with installing and integrating ONE-NET systems to replace legacy networks in support of three OCONUS Theater Network Operations and Security Centers (TNOSCs) at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station (NCTS) Naples, NCTS Bahrain, and NCTS Far East (at Yokosuka, Japan) and outlying Navy ports/stations as required. Provide technical services to assist with preparation and analysis of integration designs, implementation concepts and systems to include reviewing and assisting in the reduction of program risk per applicable risk management plans. Assist enterprise program offices and Fleet customers with the employment of technical solutions associated with the NGEN and ONE-NET “Deployable-Embarkable” project and concurrent safeguarding of approved Navy network security directives. The potential for domestic and overseas travel as well as short deployment periods on Navy platforms exists. Classification of systems supported includes UNCLASSIFIED, CONFIDENTIAL and SECRET (to include CENTRIXS Coalition). Duties may include periodic maintenance of San Diego lab assets, to include installation and configuration of software patching, providing operator training, and troubleshooting identified system problems. May utilize Microsoft Configuration Manager 20xx to support configurations of systems and deployment of software to sites. May use CommVault to support lab and sites with backups on Nexxus and Quantum storage. Candidate must be capable of working independently with little or no supervision in a high operations tempo environment; candidate may be requested to work alternate work hours or outside normal working hours on-site or via phone, email, or computer to assist with troubleshooting or casualty resolution. Qualifications Education/Certifications: BS in Information Technology (or equivalent technical degree) or 8+ years technical experience in related discipline required. IAT2 certifications required for both OS and IA (Security+ CE or equivalent required). Certification as CISSP or equivalent for IA (IAT3 per DoD Inst 8570.1) may be required, and candidate must be able to obtain within 6 months of direction. Windows Server and VMWare training/certifications highly desired. 2+ years’ experience on a military enterprise network highly desired. Must be experienced with IAVAs and patching, backups using enterprise level tools and systems (CommVault preferred) with operational experience. Ability to produce quality documentation required. Ability to troubleshoot network and operating system issues across multiple platforms required. The candidate must be familiar with DoD Certification and Accreditation requirements (DISA STIGs, DITSCAP/DIACAP requirements), and must be experienced in security remediation of Windows Server and Desktop systems. Experience with HBSS highly desired. Experience using Remedy for ticket documentation/resolution highly desired. Clearance Requirement: Depending on location Top Secret Clearance may be required. Minimum Secret clearance is required. Experience: 6+ DoD Enterprise or Navy C4I Networks required 6+ Performing DoD C&A, DIACAP and DISA STIGs required 6+ Troubleshooting network and operating system issues across multiple platforms required 2+ Operate HBSS and ACAS required Skills: Communicate well both orally and in writing Must be able to troubleshoot across multiple systems, including those off-site and work with other SMEs to determine cause and actions to take for restoration. Must be able to work with/train local military personnel to assist in resolution of problems.
